Viewing or Editing Lesson Properties
If you wish to view or edit the Lesson Properties at any stage, click on the Edit Properties link from the Lessons menu. The following dialogue is displayed:
You may change all of the Lesson Properties as explained on the previous page.
Note: You are not allowed to change the Lesson’s Creation date. This information is assigned when you first create your new Lesson, and cannot be changed
It is also possible to set up the dimensions of the lesson. Before describing the function of the individual parameters it may help to look at the layout of the browser window for a typical Kallidus application. The diagram below shows how the page is set up for authoring using the Kallidus® 6 Author.
At the top of the window is the title bar, containing logos and options. You can set its top internal margin, which may be zero. The rest of the window is devoted to the lesson. The lesson frame can itself contain further option buttons, navigation buttons and graphics, all of which persist through the lesson around the actual lesson page.
1. The width and height of the lesson frame are specified, and so are the internal margins around the lesson page inside the lesson frame.
The dimensions of the lesson frame must be large enough to contain the lesson page, but not too large to fill the normal browser window after the title bar and the menu bar has been displayed. In previous versions the lesson frame was 690x528 pixels with no margin for the lesson page.
Another popular option is to have an 800x528 lesson frame with a 110 pixel wide left margin with an option menu (Traditional e2train). Then some graphics, and option menu and navigation buttons can be introduced by specifying one of the frames that are listed in the frame document. This document is a pseudo-lesson, constructed and edited in the same manner as an ordinary lesson, but the individual pages are templates for the lesson frame. The page in the frame document that is used is specified as the style sheet. Images used in the lesson frame are located in the images sub-directory of the lesson named frame.
2. The colour of the area surrounding the lesson frame can be set in the surround colour parameter. The colour chosen here will also be used as the default background colour for the lesson, though this colour will be overlaid by whatever background colours are specified for the lesson frame and the individual lesson pages (as specified in the lesson properties and the page properties dialogs).
3. If separate Menu and Title bars are required, then further dialog boxes can be called by clicking these two buttons. This is a much older method of specifying a lesson frame however, and should only ever be selected by clients who have lessons created in Kallidus Author 6.1 or below.
By default, when a new lesson is created, the settings for the lesson frame, the separate menu frame and the separate title frame are those chosen for the default lesson named lesson. They can be subsequently changed using the above dialog box or the menu frame and title frame dialog boxes.
