New media in training boost for Leeds & Holbeck Building Society

Over 900 employees of Leeds & Holbeck Building Society throughout the UK can now benefit from the introduction of the new Intranet based e-learning facility. The facility is available throughout its 58 branch network and Head Office departments

It became apparent that staff members working in the outlying regions, such as the Aberdeen office, were not receiving the same training opportunities as their colleagues in some of the closer branches to the Head Office in Leeds. The new system allows access to the same training courses for all, so even staff in the Gibraltar branch will benefit from the system.

The e-learning facility will complement the Society's existing classroom training programme by providing the training of new initiatives within a short time frame across a large area.

The system is provided by e2train who were chosen for the ease of system usage of both the Kallidus authoring tool and the Learning Management System, the attractive price and the overall service promise. The success of e-learning will be measured on a continual basis with the results being updated and evaluated through many different areas including: reporting, staff retention and career progression.

Training & Development Advisor, Julie Chilvers, said "The new system helps us to provide all members of staff with a consistent approach to training. The e-learning tool can be accessed by anyone from their desk. It means that staff in the branches do not have to be away from the office for a full day. It provides a cost-effective, modern and speedy solution to our training challenges."

Leeds & Holbeck Building Society is the UK's eighth largest building society with assets over £5billion. It was founded in 1875 and has been based at its current head offices in the centre of Leeds since 1930.
