ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, ANYWHERE - Management training goes 24-seven with e2train

The Business Need:

The DataStream Technology Group (DST) was considering e-learning as a cost effective means for the provision of management training. Managers would then enjoy the flexibility to access lessons at home, or the office, on a 24-seven basis.

"Its not always convenient for people to attend traditional training courses", said Saifulbahri Jaya, Group Deputy Managing Director. "Our people are keen to develop their management skills, and we wanted to provide them with the training to do that, wherever and whenever they wanted and at a pace that suited them."

The Organisation:

The DST Group was established in 1995, initially as a response to Government policy for the privatisation of Brunei's communication services. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength, in terms of its position as a global communication
services provider.

This progress has been embraced by DST's commitment to modern technology, especially in terms of employee development.

Continuous learning is paramount within the corporate culture, and this is further realised by the organisation's comprehensive training policy. DST firmly believes in employee empowerment, and that investing in its people as much as in technology, is the key to achieving continued success.

e2train was delighted to work with a company so dedicated to the personal growth of its workforce.

The Solution:

In March 2002, sixty Xebec Online courses were installed on a single server at DST's headquarters in Negara Brunei Darussalam. Employees gained access to the courses via e2train's Kallidus™ Learning Management System, which tracks and reports on usage.

"A variety of courseware options were investigated", said DST's Saifulbahri Jaya. "We settled for the Xebec range, not only for its sound content, but also because it contained pre-assessments that helped the users to quickly define, and then focus entirely on the training that met their needs….

….Some of our requirements were not typical, however, e2train tailored the solution to meet our needs, and we are delighted with the results. The training and technical support offered from their UK base has been tremendous."

The Results:

Excellent feedback has been received, and the sixty courses have since been successfully rolled-out to 250 of DST's managers. DST are now considering phase-two, during which a greater variety of course will be made accessible to a large cross-section of
the workforce.
